User Goals

• Amazon Music on Fire tablets look different depending on the OS version.

• Our engineering team was supporting 3 different versions of the same app.

• With the 2015 release, we want to include native support for Prime Music inside all 3 versions of Fire OS.

• Play the Prime Music without adding to user's library
• Experience the better user flow and interaction with native code support comparing to web store experience

• Get the same experience as Amazon Music on other platforms

• Implement the pattern the design team has created to be used across all platforms

• Create a scalable layout to support all different screen sizes and screen densities of the past 3 generations of Fire tablets

• Create one app version that will backward support all Fire tablet generations

• Increase the app usage and playback time by letting users to play without adding music to their libraries first

• The new home design needs to support all Amazon Music marketplaces

• To let the user continue playback, consume own content, and explore Amazon Music content right from the device home

• Follow the platform's Magazine Home design guidelines to create consistent experience

• Make sure the user know that data she sees are personalized only for her

• Let the user be in control by letting her decide on which of her friends are experts in pre-populated categories

• Display private data and public data in the right hierarchy on venue detail pages

• Explore capabilities from different APIs available from different social and local services and use them accordingly to make the app useful and beautiful

• Explore which friends are experts in different categories

• Get recommendations from expert friends

• See what your friends have been up to

Business Goals

• Use publicly available data from established social networks and location based services to create social network with geo-tagged data

• Provide personalized venue search results by using private data from user's social network

YAIR PIKE

 

Yair is a creative and motivated designer with more than a decade of experience in making many products useful and beautiful across all major platforms.

 

He has experience in starting his own startup, as the sole designer for a small startup acquired by Apple, the  designer for one of the biggest music store on the planet, got a degree in computer science (not very good at it and maybe that's why he's a designer?), was once in the top 10 among more than 40,000 designers on a design crowd-sourcing market, and worked as a product manager (didn't enjoy it).
